After learning with horror that her employer had placed a covert camera in her bedroom smoke detector, an au pair has been awarded damages totaling more than £2 million.
According to a Brooklyn Federal Court case, Kelly Andrade was given a £2.1 million payment after it came to light that her employer, Michael Esposito, had been surreptitiously filming her.
At the time, the 25-year-old was employed as a live-in nanny for a fried chicken entrepreneur in Staten Island, New York, where the family was lodging.
