The Colombian-born woman was overjoyed to be assigned to Esposito, who owns three LaRosa Grill businesses, and his wife Danielle to take care of their four kids.
She told the Post that she was excited about the opportunity to work in the US and learn English, and that the family was providing her with a separate bedroom.
However, Andrade grew suspicious when she saw that the 35-year-old father was frequently repositioning the smoke detector in her room, saying that it was “constantly being repositioned,” as per the suit.
She looked it over after three weeks of work in 2021 and saw the hidden camera.
When Esposito realized she had discovered his dirty tactic, she claimed he tried to force the door open after being home “within minutes.”
She had at first feigned to be asleep before jumping out of a window in terror and running across the street.
After leaving Esposito’s home, according to Andrade’s attorney, she slept the night “on the street in a bush” before traveling to a local police station and turning in the memory card she had discovered.
The au pair then filed a lawsuit against Esposito, alleging that it had “hundreds of recordings” of her in her undressed or partially clothed state.
The father was charged with felony unlawful surveillance after being taken into custody on March 24, 2021.
However, he was spared prison time provided he fulfilled the two years of probation and therapy, which Andrade considered to be “insufficient.”
Esposito’s massive $2.78 million (£2.1 million) payment order has now been made after his covert X-rated recording scheme was discovered.
In addition to $2 million (£1.5 million) in punitive penalties against the man, a Manhattan jury has awarded $780,000 (£588,000) in emotional distress damages against the Esposito couple.
Andrade stated, “I’m working on my own recovery right now.” “I found being on a trial to be quite difficult. For me, it was a really trying period. It reminds me of things I’m trying to let go of.
